For weeks now I have the same question in my head:

If Michael agreed to do 10 shows and wasn't aware of the 50 shows deal that AEG made why didn't he "just" tried to have ten shows done in a stadium ?

There are lots of big stadiums in England, and even the Knewborth ground where he could have reached 125.000 people with EACH SHOW like Robbie Williams did back in 2003.

While the O2 belongs to AEG live they could not have been sued for changing the location. Of course AEG would have lost some money but maybe not while they may have had lower costs in total than in the O2 ... and the O2 would have been open for other events what would have brought them additional money...........

*edit* I AM so SORRY, I posted this one in the complete false category.... maybe Souza can help me out here

Well, that's a very good point you raise...
However, I don't believe that Michael didn't agree to do the 50 shows.
You got me thinking though...

My husband was saying that maybe there weren't 50 shows!
I am not sure how the booking system works but it would be easy to show a date as booked up on the system even if there was no scheduled concert on that date. You would just think that you were too late to get a ticket when you looked at it.
This might be relevant if you take the view that this is one big promotion for the real event next year and that by using O2 which AEG own, there would be no lost money in the same way as if you were using another venue.

O2 stands for Oxygen....link to the Oxygen tanks suppossedly in the house?

But seriously...maybe they just sold tickets to gauge his popularity before going thru with the hoax? If no one bought tickets, then a hoax would be useless as the assumption would be that no one cared if he died...

hmm, but that would mean that at least ANOTHER company would have been involved in the hoax then... the ticket agency / agencies

Michael was pressured into doing 50 shows ..... You are right ... why could use a Bigger Stadium and finish them out there instead ???

Not sure. I just assumed that most venues would have their own ticketing system (I seem to remember you could book your exact seat direct if you went to the Wembley site when I was in the UK and going to see bands there). If you went via the ticket agency there were only certain blocks of seats available but going to the venue direct had a lot more choice.
Over here in Aus we have 2 ticketing agencies so you can't go to the venue direct.
If ticket agencies were going to get tickets they would have to apply electronically as well, I am imagining, so again dates could be blocked out as already sold.
