OK. Michael's message was really clear to me. (ofcourse also the message that he is alive and stuff Wink ) But also that we have to heal the world.
We really can change it! Still!! I just think people really have to do it, not just say it.
Like about 100 years, where I live (holland) a big part is then under water. please don't let this happen! Please, do this! Icon_pale We can change it to 1000 years! Also things in the USA would be under water. Sad

But we can change it!

Like turn your lights of when your out the room or if there is enough light in the room. and maybe you can change some lights in bulbs! Please don't forget to turn it off when you walk out the room. Because a lot of times that happens! Also here in my home! I always say: DAD TURN THE LIGHTS OFF!! Please, do this! Icon_cheers hahaha! Please, do this! Lol anyways Razz

And when you are on the computer or something and you don't use the TV and it is on, please turn it off! And not on stand by, REALLY OFF! Very Happy so if you are reading this now and your tv is on, TURN IT OFF PLEASE!! Very Happy

And (to the young people here like me) when you are old enough and you go to a big school (not high school) but something like university Smile Go by train or bus!

And you can also wash your clothes cold! Very Happy

And you can eat biologic, is better for the animals and better for the world!

Sorry that I post it here, but this is a threat lot of people look at so..
And I know lot of people are already doing this! But also a lot aren't you know!
And by the idea that Michael maybe pulled this hoax is because the reason it maybe to really show the WHOLE world that we HAVE to change it youknow! (i don't really think that but it is possible Wink )

So please, think about this when you are at home and stuff!

LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!! YOU ARE MY HOMIES!!! Please, do this! Herz

Honestly, though... I think about this stuff all the time... but it's up to us to change... people now a days just don't wanna change.. people are too lazy, and selfish to care about the world.. it's always "Me, me, I- I..." *sigh* All we can do is try... I know this frustrates Michael the most... how people are today.. it sickens him, I know it..

That is very commendable and well thought. Some of us have to preserve energy though as the price has gone up so much! It has here in the UK.
Please, do this! Lol
But please if you are saving energy and do all this young Lady implores in the thread please can you spare a thought for the 3rd world who do not have electricity at all. Please find it in your hearts to donate any amount you save, no matter how small to charities such as Oxfam or Red Cross. Thankyou. Please read;

When Americans go to some third world country, some Latin
American country for example, and see people living in one-
room, thatched huts they are shocked. It is so completely
alien to anything they have ever seen. They think "What
desperate poverty! How terrible! These poor people!" For an
American it is a real culture shock. But what the American
doesn't appreciate is that probably 75% of the people in the
world live in this same way. Think of all the people in the
world who live in India, China, southeast Asia, Africa, South
America, all of the third world countries. In all these
countries the most of the people live in one or two room houses
with no electricity or running water; no indoor toilets; no
bathtubs, showers, electric ranges, refrigerators, washers,
dryers, telephones, etc.. These houses don't have the lovely
interiors and the modern kitchens and bathrooms that one finds
in America and there are no automobiles parked outside and no
supermarkets or shopping malls nearby. In fact, a very typical
house in the third world is probably 8 foot by 12 foot with mud
brick, mud wattle or flattened-bamboo walls, a packed earth
floor, a clay tile, corrugated metal or thatched roof and few
or no windows. There is no heating system and cooking is done
either inside or outside the dwelling on a three stone fire or
on an elementary wood, coal, charcoal or kerosene stove. There
are no toilet facilities either inside or outside the dwelling.
Water is fetched from some source some distance away and one of
the occupants of the dwelling (possibly a child) will spend two
or three hours a day scrounging for enough firewood for the
day. This is the way of life for countless millions today,
probably the most of the world's people. When the American
sees these primitive third world houses and the primitive
lifestyle that they imply he probably doesn't really realize
that this is the mode of life for most of the world. Nor does
he stop and realize that this very way of living, this
lifestyle of the one-room house with no electricity, running
water or modern conveniences, is the way the vast bulk of
mankind has lived for thousands and thousands of years. This
is the way the masses lived back in ancient times. The ancient
Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Jews, Assyrians, Chinese, Indians,
etc. all lived this same way. The construction materials and
the way they built their houses may have differed from one
place to another but their basic lifestyle was the same. None
of them had electricity, running water, refrigerators,
televisions, telephones or supermarkets. They had to go to a
well or some water source to fetch their water, they had to
wash their clothes on some stones in a creek, they had to
prepare their meals from scratch and cook them on some
rudimentary wood stove or fire. There were no toilet
facilities like we have today. That is the way the ancients
lived and that is the way the masses of humanity have lived all
through the ages. The modern lifestyle of the three bedroom
house with hot and cold running water, electricity, and all the
modern conveniences is a thing of only the last seventy five
years. And then it has only appeared as a way of life of the
masses in the advanced industrialized societies. The most of
the modern conveniences hadn't even been invented a hundred
years ago. Thus when one looks at things in perspective one
realizes that it is not the one-room, thatched hut in India or
Ecuador that is the oddity. The real oddity and amazing thing
is the millions and millions of three and four bedroom houses
up here in the United States with all the modern, plush
luxuries and two cars out in front. The real wonder is the
millions and millions of Americans who all live like kings,
each in his own palace. That is the real wonder. Those living
in the one-room hut in Ecuador are just living in the way that
has been the norm for the common man throughout the ages. Many
billions of people have lived out their lives in that same way
with no thought that they were living in poverty or that they
were even poor. Even in the matter of food the Indians living
in the one-room hut in Ecuador probably eat about as the common
man has probably eaten throughout the ages --- a diet
consisting mostly of cereal grains, roots and vegetables and a
relatively small amount of meat. It is only in modern America
where people think it is necessary to have plenty of meat and
all the tender delicacies of a king every day.

You know I do quite all the things you suggest (even turn off my router and speakers, but still don't know if that is enough) - well, buying organic
food is pretty expensive but I try everytime I think it's offered for a
reasonable price - but still.. I don't see many people changing their
habbits into economic adventougsly ones Please, do this! Icon_silent
Just like mjgirl86 wrote ".. people are too
lazy, and selfish to care about the world.. it's always "Me, me, I-
I..." "

- and to me it feels like there are a lot of them out there.
However, I hope to contribute at least something for letting our world
exist a little bit longer in the way we're knowing it today
(geographically).
So, thanks for reminding everyone again how important it is to change our bad habits Please, do this! Star3 Please, do this! Icon_wink

Is it a contribution to buy at Oxfam and Humana?

Great post Eva!
I looked in to the mirror pretty long time ago, it´s easy to deal with myself - I have to fight with others - don´t burn the plastic, turn the light off, dont drop trash on the road, don´t hurt animals, don´t yell on children, don´t hit them etc, etc.
It irritates me when I see somebody hits his dog, I just can´t stay quiet. Years ago I had neighbours who yelled at their children all the time - I heard every single word - I wanted to call the police but ironicly - the man was police Please, do this! Icon_twisted
I was happy to moving away in my own house. It was really nasty to hear his yelling all the time Please, do this! Icon_mad
The most important thing is what I do is teaching my children to care about others, to stand for those who are weaker, care about animals and nature.
Few years ago when my taughter was 5 yrs old she saved a mouse from our cat. It was very cold outside so we put it in the cage and feed it until the spring, then we released it and hoped that it comes not to live under our house Please, do this! Lol I don´t like when they scrabble under the floor or behind the wallPlease, do this! Affraid That´s why I have cats Please, do this! Lol

@April-R, yes it is a great contribution to shop at these charity shops as every little helps and you will be surprised how little it costs to save someone in the 3rd world. Good for you and bless you for that. It also is a big help if you have a clear out or have something you no longer want to donate to these shops. Every little helps and if everyone in the developed countries did a little bit then there would not be as much suffering.
I might add I have found some really nice items at Oxfam, especially retro stuff you do not see in the shops. I love shops such as this-we do not have Humana here but Oxfam and Red Cross shops are everywhere.

Haha thank you all! Yes you guys are right! We also have to help the 3rd world! They also need it really badly! We are going to help them. If you have some money left give it to them, but only to the charities you trust! Because sometimes I think: No not that charity because that one is holding the money for themselves and they give almost nothing to the 3rd world!

Yes, this is a very good point as there are some charities where only a small proportion gets to the actual people you are meaning to donate to. There are ways to check on this. I do know that most of what is donated with Oxfam and Red Cross there is only a very small percentage of donations go to costs and administration and a great many workers and helpers are unpaid and give their time out of love and compassion. But as Eva says we do want to be secure in our minds that the majority of donations are actually reaching the needy.
If you see on the news on television of terrible world desasters such as earth quakes and floods then you will know that Oxfam and Red cross are always there to give aid.

We have The Salvation Army and Goodwill here in the States and every year when I clean out my closet I give my old clothes to them. Some arent even worn.
I thought about volunteering at Habitat for Humanity which is an organization that helps build homes for people in need.

My old job was a Chrsitian company and we sponsored a bunch of children at the Christian childrens fund. $20 every few months for them is like $1000 a day for us. And most of the $ goes to the children. We had the pleasure of giving a child in Africa his very first birthday party. He was turning 10 I think...AND he got to buy some food for his familly and some shoes and clothes and school stuff........so look into that.

Doing things for others in need makes your heart smile!

@Harleyblonde
I know I found great stuff there too in fact one of my favourite hats is from Humana Smile

Anyway.. I have some doubts in spending clothes, like throwing it into Red Cross containers, because it's public that this clothes is transported to factorys were the good is seperated from the worn out and after that the good clothes gets sold to second-hand shops..
I recently saw a documentary about the tsunami on 26th December '04 and volunteers who helped fixing the damage caused by it. It was shown that there wasn't even a building to put in all the donated clothing it just layed on the street and then the reporter commented something like that "what are the people possibly able to do with all the winter coats?" - see what I mean?
I'm not quite sure if I said it right Please, do this! Icon_neutral
And wasn't there somthing about UNICEF and a money-affair? However..

Oh and of course we have to help 3rd world but I think we also have to help people in the countries we're living in now, yet we have people dying at too cold nights outside. Besides we need to focus on why our society still is (or maybe changed even more to that way) growing up with false values and using dubious educational methods (you know like to chain your children on their chairs or at their tables etc.)...
And everytime I think about it.. I honestly don't know where to start.
Should I invest my free time in 3rd world or people in my country? (I don't mean to sound rude, I don't want to rate people's importances) I just feel like there's too little time and money..

Thank you Eva! You are an amazing young lady!

My daughter and I donate to the Salvation Army and Goodwill stores too. We also help serve Thanksgiving dinner to those that normally wouldn't have one for one reason or another. Through our church we we have a thing that starts in January where we collect new toys, batteries, school supplies, coloring books & crayons, household items etc. for families in need and deliver the "baskets" a week before Christmas. This way parents who may not be able to afford to give their children any or little presents will have something for them. Our church doesn't serve dinner, but there are "baskets" for that too with vouchers for a turkey or meat of preference and all the trimmings Smile I still feel like it's not enough though. We conserve energy, help wherever we can, recycle, but there has to be more.

Aww...this is so sweet you guys. It's something Michael is very compassionate about. And I am too. I do not know what it's like to be dead broke. And I get upset when people say they are but really aren't. We should consider ourselves blessed to have a roof over our head and food in our stomachs. These are things we take for granted too often. It shouldn't be this way. I recycle and conserve electricity also. And I like to give to charity whenever I can. We can make this world we call home a better place if we really try. We each have to make sacrifices though. If you drink coffee on a daily basis, how about going without coffee and donating the money you would have spent. Coffee is expensive if you drink a lot of it. Lol. It's the little things that make all the difference.

My dad is Mexican and almost all of his family is in Mexico. He came to America when he was a teenager and met my mom...and look...that's where I happened. Haha. Smile I've never met my family in Mexico but I'd really like to. Dad says I wouldn't be able to handle it because they live in the poor part of town. There are dirt roads and cement floors. Only outhouses...etc. And I wouldn't be used to it but I would be blessed with the experience of seeing mi familia. Smile He makes sure to send money to my grandma in Mexico every month to help her. I think that is so kind. It's the least we can do to help others. Ya know?? I mean God has truly blessed us with so much. Why is it hard for some of us to give back? I'll continue praying for this earth and for mankind itself. *grabs each of your hands* Don't let go okay? Together we can make a difference and a brighter tomorrow. We'll cry happy tears one day. <3

yeah exactly! aww that is horrible for your family in Mexico.. Sad
I think lot of us don't really know how life is in poor countrys. And I think people have to open their eyes for it. Not close it. Not like: Oh, I don't live there and I have it good so it doesn't matter.. Please, do this! Icon_evil I hate it when people think that way. And most of the time if they go to africa (to a poor place in africa) they opened their eyes and help them you know! I think more people have to do that.

I know this I haven't really to say but I also want to move to USA Please, do this! Icon_redface I just love some places like florida and NY and California. I would love to live their! Like california! Close to Michael and beach and famous people!! Very Happy And I would (because I know that Mike is alive and I hope he is coming back) go to his house and sit beyond the gates and wait till he is coming outside and talk to him and stuff! And I ask if he comes the same time tomorrow out his house and I will see him there! Please, do this! Icon_biggrin ooh that is my dream! And like Michael said: Dreams can come true! Please, do this! Please, do this! Icon_santa The poverty is a failure of the set of the society in general, is a reality that it depresses, when there are thousands of persons in the world that they die every day, for which simply they do not have to eat, while million dollars become exhausted in weapon. I do not see it as a shock of cultures. Also there are many factors, between these factors this one that there are really poor countries, corrupt politicians, not implementation of social policies, the unique way of going out of the poverty is with education and work. It is not to import what happens to the neighbor.I go it is necessary to speak for what I see in my country, a rich country, here there are necessary oil, fertile lands, gold, I shoe bauxite, coal, beautiful landscapes (not to have an industry of very big tourism). Be fixed in these numbers 57 % of the Venezuelan families that lives in the segments mas low scarcely if I could do 2 show restraint daily. 11 % of these families lives in these socioeconomic sectors, in what they are called a housing, in an alone physical space they sleep, see television, "feed" urinate, defecate and have sexual relations. This one does not call the attention of ningun government, they eat meat or chicken once a month, which these people understand as chicken is the wings of the chicken or the legs. Another percentage that alone he(she) eats once a day, and other one who asks in the streets to eat.

That's cool cause I already turn off the lights when I leave the room and I turn off the TV when nobody is watching it and I'm a vegitarian. Although we have a car, I walk all the time by choice. My husband drives to work but I walk because I love it. I went down to 101 pounds and people think I am starving myself when in all honesty, I'm eating healthy. Where I live, a bigger majority of people have food addictions and they are severely obese and they actually consider me strange because I love to take care of myself and yes, I believe when you take care of yourself, you are also protecting our planet. My favorite drink is ruby red grapefruit juice. I think in the beginning when I decided to become a vegitarian was because of the steroids they put in meat just to get the animals to grow up faster. It's so sad. That's not healthy. Another way you can tell our plannet is in trouble is the climate. You have more huricanes and floods now and more dry air in the spring and summer time, there's not enough rain, nowadays there are anouncements on fire hazards because the grounds are dry and they lakes are having less water in them each year. and the temperature has changed through out the seasons. I can't explain it but you can tell our plannet is in trouble

I have been a part of Oxfam for several yrs now thru introduction w. Coldplay... they have volunteers at all their concerts. yes, it is a good one.

Also part of One.org... that's Bono's. They have built many water wells and helped in Africa.

And also part of Al Gore's Live Earth program... green program. this one I have been in for 2 yrs. So 2 yrs. ago I changed all the light bulbs, bought some reusable grocery bags and changed all the electrical outlets to surge strips that can just be turned off at the switch when not using. I stopped buying water in bottles and put a filter on the tap. And take a reusable bottle and cup to work.

At the workplace, we have issued everyone two reusable plastic mugs and stopped using styrofoam cups for coffee and water in the breakroom.

I live in an apartment, but have been growing my own salad veggies on the balcony in boxes and pots... or at least try to keep them going... cause I like salads and strawberries!

And at the CPing.com site, we started a charity club several yrs. ago and sponsor a child in Mali, Africa as a group effort.

These are all possible things that everyone here can do.
