Jackson's New Movie Not So "New"

Michael Jackson fans might be a bit upset over this revelation.
The much hyped-about This Is It flick, documenting Michael's final tour rehearsals, seems to have gotten a bit of help from the past.
According to new reports, music experts are claiming some of the sound bytes you hear are actually from years before!!!!
Former BBC senior studio manager Andrew Rose is one of those claiming the film used old clips. Such as when Jackson sings Earth Song, it's actually old vocals from one of his demos.
Rose claims, "Throughout the film sudden changes in vocal timbre
suggest the dropping in of older recordings which may have required
significant digital manipulation to fit the new live backing."
But the most shocking part? Officials at Sony Pictures are admitting to altering the film!
Sony spokesman Jim Kennedy says, "In order to fulfil Michael's
vision for his fans and his children… the filmmakers had to incorporate
some pre-existing materials, including vocals, where the rehearsal
footage audio was incomplete and/or inaudible. In addition, usage of
master recordings (such as Earth Song) was credited in the end titles."
This is It has grossed over $200 million already.

You know, I was wondering about this, because I had been thinking about the movie 2012, and when he says we have 4 years to fix this, I was wondering if the footage was sometime later, around 2008 or late 2007. O.o

This was no news to me. If you check out the sound, sound is good, remastered even and the pictures were added to sound.
That's how you make a movie.
You decide on a storybook and either start from pictures and add sound to them or you start from sound and add pictures.

They did a good job and I was astounded that so many rehearsal sequences just were fitting one sound. I at first thought of "he was really the master of sound if he rehearsed several times exactly hitting the rhythm and expressional value of the pieces.
But from my stage and rehearsal experience, it is highly unlikely that you are always 100% in the same flow of music. Mostly audiences do not notice the little slips but not one performance equals another.

Yes, they started with sound and fitted the images into it.
I just stumbled of the 2, 3 times when sound restarted twice in movie sequences, mainly when K.O. starte to say something.
This I could not fit these sound repeats into anything.

Karen F said that Michael would not take off his sunglasses during the rehearsals.
Have you noticed that Michael looking older or more worn down is shown in sunglasses?
The other shots of him, look younger as if the filming was done earlier..and I don't mean a month earlier.

Something is very strange and we are buying right into it by wanting to see him one more time.

Cresendo, I have been thinking the EXACT same thing. When I heard him say that
on the "movie", my mind just started clicking that everything was off.

LOL...sometimes I have odd thoughts. My thoughts say.... if someone admits to "A" then they might still be hiding "B" and "C".

If the public doesn't completely freak out over "A" then, the powers that be, will feel comfortable enough to allow other secrets to leak out.

BTW - the story suggests that some footage/music sound bites was from '07 or '08. Could there also have been footage or pictures from a time earlier than those dates?

I can understand the need to use older audio... But, footage?? The "we have four years" statement, and the Smooth Criminal scene, which strongly resembles that photo from the article written in 2006 makes me wonder just how old some of this footage really is.
