im scared..... :( (not MJ related)

tomorrow is the operation day. Im so scared.
It's kinda ironic, really. I've told patients many times "not to worry and you're in the best of hands" - but now that Im the patient, all i can think of is "ZIP IT!".

I wish you all the best and I am sure it will be fine. I have never had an operation before so I would be the same but you will be in a great care and just think how much better your ankle will be after this!

No, i guess im scared about this whole thing because i was stupid enough to ask the surgeon what drug he'd use to anesthetize me - and he said propofol I did not need to hear that word......

i know, rach. I really regret asking that question - i guess the nurse in me just HAD to ask

well, the surgeon is a skinny white dude, so the chances of Murray or Klein being there is rather slim

i'll be on leave from work for 3 months! wow... i can be online for 3 months straight, pretty much (is it pathetic that im looking forward to that?!)

Thank you guys. Im sure i'll be fine and the operation will go as planned. It's just scary to be about to do/try something for the first time in your life, you know? And the propofol thing doesnt help, i might add.

I had surgery on my right knee in July 2007. It was same day surgery. Yes! I was put under for a few hours. Let me tell you from experience. Don't worry about anything. You will be fine. The Dr. (anthesiologist) will come to you and talk to you. He will start your IV, then your surgeon will come in and talk to you and tell you everything will be fine. By the time I got to OR I was wrapped in warm blankets with 2 doctors and 3 nurses. I told them they were so nice to take..... I was out until I woke up groggy in the recovery room. I was sleepy off and on when my friend drove me home. By the time I got home I crashed on the sofa and stayed there for 1 1/2 days. I didn't have pain or anything either. I will pray for you. God is not respector of persons. If he had me come through my knee surgery fine you will go through your ankle surgery fine also. Keep the Faith!

Don't worry, BallonGiraf - if it weren't safe, your parents wouldn't let you go through with it.

First of all, don't worry about a thing. As long as MJ's doctors are not in the room, you'll be just fine!!

On the other hand if you think you are pathetic, I'll show you pathetic: I actually envy you for having a legitimate excuse to be online non stop 3 months in a row without having to worry about work!!!

Sweetie, I ´ve been doing surgeries my whole , life since I have an incurable kidney disease.Tough I fully understand your feeling, even now, I sense the same when an intervention is mentioned.But trust me, you will be fine, maybe you are scared cause all this anesthesy stuff had set you a bit more nervous than usual, but please dont, you will be at a hospital with experienced physician watching you.It will be a completly secure procedure, and Im swear, on 2 days you will be here with us again, helping to unveil this great mystery.

My prays will be for you, and be sure we are all hugging you right now.

Ballon You will be just fine! YOu won't feel a thing. I just had surgery last Thursday and I was nervous and scared because I also had to be put to sleep. But don't you worry you will be fine and you will be out of there faster than you can say MJ is alive! I will keep you in my prayers and we'll be waiting for you when you are ready to come back to us!

Your health is top priority and you need to do whatever it takes to be healthy! We all love ya and I wish you a speedy recuperation! Don't be nervous I am sure will be in good hands! Take care and get well soon!

surgery went fine - it took them 1½ hours to repair the damage. They also repaired my tendons

And wow... propofol is some good shit, im telling ya - though waking up from it is an absolute hell. Even now (1 day after) im still dizzy and sleepy as hell. Having experienced this myself i'd have to say that there's no way in hell MJ could've gotten propofol every night and able to perform the next day. The operation ended at 10.30 - i wasnt fully wake until 1.30, and even then i was still groggy and dizzy.

it sure is. But oooh, it's gooood. I was seeing colors, the room was spinning and i was VERY happy when they injected it

But waking up and the time afterward is a nightmare
