Does it matter whether he converted/reverted or not?

correct me if im wrong, but i thought muslims believe you HAVE to buried within a certain timframe...? If so, it'd be very rude and disrespectful to wait 70 days...

Yeah they have to be buried asap, if possible within 24 hours

Re: Did or didn't he convert
As far as I'm aware he did convert whilst he was in UAE, however you would think as a practising Muslim his funeral would have been a lot different and done sooner xxxxx

Re: Did or didn't he convert
In Muslim burials you have to be buried within 24 hours of death and it must be held during the day not at night. If he was Muslim and if he had really died then his family would be totally disrecpecting both him and his religion.
As it stands - I'm sure when he really dies they'll do it properly, last night was just a smaller scale version o fthe Memorial and hasn't shown us anything new besides getting Mac, Liz and Chris to attend something where evryone was happy and smiling all the time.
Heck I even heard that Rev Al Sharpton was tweeting while he was there?

Re: Did or didn't he convert
Even though I am muslim myself I don't care if he was or wasn't. It will not change my opinion of him one bit. He is a beautiful person regardless of his believes. That is the great thing about him. You could tell he found beauty in everything and everywhere. A true world citizen with great humanity.
And I did hear Sharpton was tweeting too. What is that about. Have some respect.

Re: Did or didn't he convert
Ditto what Confused said. I'm also Muslim but whether Michael is or isn't doesn't change my opinion of him at all. I loved him before he reverted and I still love him now, what he chooses for his religion makes no difference because he is a genuinely good person who wanted to do good for the whole world.

Re: Did or didn't he convert
@Jubilee - apparently, don't know wtf that was about? He's a Reverend for crying out loud - I'm guessing his tweets went something like this:
'Damn Jacksons - why aren't I leading this service?'
@8pm
'I've known him forever, Michael is my man! I should be leading the service. Think of all the headlines - "Rev Al Sharpton leads the Michael Jackson Burial Service"
@8:15pm
Dang it! Foiled again! Michael ain't even in that casket.
@8:30pm
and so on. I have to find his twitter and see what he was saying lol

Re: Did or didn't he convert
I love him just as much whether he was converted to Islam or not he's the one who taught us to love all regardless of race, colour, and religion.
and I remember reading at MJHD that Muslim religion requires the body to be wrapped in a white sheet similar to what we saw Michael was in rather than a coroner bag...

Re: Did or didn't he convert
@MJSmile4Us - yeah that's the kaffan or burial shroud, a white material which the body is wrapped up in because we don't do coffins.
But Islamic burial practices also mean that the body should have been buried on June 26th or at he very latest June 27th. Two and a half months is beyond ridiculous.

thank u for letting me know and I think it's beyond unimaginable and disrespectful for any religion to wait this long to bury Michael

Re: Did or didn't he convert
Dang it - Al's tweets were nothing like mine more's the pity, I could have done with a laugh lol.
Still, he shouldn't have been tweeting at a funeral, jeez I can't tweet at work even though my mobile is in my pocket but he tweets at a funeral. What is up with that?

I think it's downright rude to be tweeting at the funeral, even if it wasn't a real one.

Re: Did or didn't he convert
I saw so many people chatting on their phones before the family came.
Here's what i picked up on and I know they're playing us with this:
- There was a great shot of Hat Man - who we could see VERY clearly (that was considerate of the Jacksons especially because Hat Man now looked chubbier than he did 2 months ago!) chatting on his mobile and greeting people.
Adams Apple Blonde sitting behind Hat Man this time and still with the same black boyfriend from the Memorial, the camera also focused on her for a bit.
KennyO hugging some guy while holding his Memorial programme, a huge grin on his face - no surprise there.
Macauley Culkin sitting far away from the rest of the close friends - I'd have expected him to sit near Liz like he did at the 30th Anniversary in 2001. He was laughing and happy.
Tom Mesereau (I love him) bless his heart sat near the front/middle and kept his head down.
Tatiana Thumbtzen (sp?) came and sat near the back/middle next to that Magic Magnificent dude who's name I can't remember - he I would have expected to be sitting somewhere near Joe because they're good friends.
I swore I saw Joh'Vonnie sitting somewhere but I can't be sure.
Chris Tucker was sitting somewhere near the back/middle and didn't do much.
And I think I saw Larry King's wife but I didn't see him.
I didn't see Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Oprah Winfrey (small blessing), Omar or a few other people - and I saw a bunch of strangers who I didn't recognise.
