Stunning 2001 Billie Jean Performance
This is one of the videos I can never get tired of. He is in his 40's here and better than ever. Sheer untouchable awe inspiring perfection.

Sad note: This performance was done in NYC on 9/10/01, the eve of the 9/11 attack right there in NYC. MJ had to escape to NJ the morning of the attacks!

MJ was an awesome performer at any age. He always gave his audience the best performance ever. I would have loved to see him perform. But, I guess he had to do what was best for him. I hope that he has the peaceful existence he had always longed to have. Keep the Faith!

Re: Stunning 2001 Billie Jean Performance
WOW!!!
That was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you stop the video at 5:24, you will see Macauly Culkin, Elizabeth Taylor and Liza Minelli (I think it was her next to Elizabeth) in the front row.
You know, of course ladies are always going to go nuts when Michael performs, but I love it when men get crazy too...and this video shows a few of them and their love for Michael and his music as well.

Re: Stunning 2001 Billie Jean Performance
It is an electrifying video, I watched the whole 30th Anniversary performance last night on youtube and wow!
I have to say I loved the Michael Jackson and The Jacksons reunion, and the Michael solo performances
I could have done without the cover versions because most of them were .... well let's say nobody can do Michael Jackson's songs justice lol.
I loved it when Shaggy came out and they cut to Michael's face where he says 'I love this song', it warms my heart every time

I agree. I think this performence of Billie Jean blows Motown 25 out of the water. Everytime I see I cant believe it. Does anybody know if this special is available on DVD somewhere?

Re: Stunning 2001 Billie Jean Performance
I have no idea, I'm looking for it myself. But OMG the way he moves, and he knows how much anticipation there is, esp when we're waiting for the moonwalk and he keeps playing the crowd and building it up. He is King for a reason and I can't see it better displayed than in that video, it blows my mind every single time I watch it and I never get tired of itvelvetsilvergirl wrote:I agree. I'm so bothered by the fact, that I never got to see him perform live. But hey, maybe after he blows the lid off this hoax, all MJHD-members will get free tickets to his Resurrection tour! ;-) hahaha Imagine that. I could die peacefully after that. lol

I second that! Watching Michael in concert is something that I have always wanted to do and I'd love to still have the chance to do so.StenniZ wrote:DawneVee wrote:StenniZ wrote:No matter how many times I watch him dance....my jaw drops to the ground with amazement every time! Re: Stunning 2001 Billie Jean Performance
It's funny..after watching this and seeing a younger MJ at Motown 25 you can really see how much he has perfected his act. At Motown 25 he was just developing that unique style and it looks slightly raw after seeing the 2001 performance (still awesome though). On the Oprah interview he told her that he cried after Motown 25 because he thought he didn't do a good enough job. Crazy huh? But it drove him to be the awesomeness of years to come.
Does anyone find that when they put the radio on today the songs seem so meaningless and disposable compared to what MJ produced?
No one is as electifying as MJ. In this video, you literally get a buzz watching it. He had grown men crying.

Completely 100%. I don't even know what kind of music comes out nowadays, all you hear is rap and rnb (don't ask me who or what because I don't like it) which all sounds exactly the same. Honestly it does. there is no innovation, there is no message, there is no flair or spark. I swear all these music videos look the same, all the music sounds the same. I don't get it anymore. All the faces and names just fade into one another, I couldn't tell you who is number 1 in the charts, I couldn't name 10 popular songs that were released in the past 8 months.
I freely admit that I love the music produced in the 70s, 80, 90 (I'm an 80s baby, that may be why) - before all this manufactured monotonous junk that is out now.

Re: Stunning 2001 Billie Jean Performance
It's all about making a quick buck and moving on to the next disposable act.
Re: Stunning 2001 Billie Jean Performance
Exactly. There is no longevity nowadays, acts have a few hits, some one-hit wonders and then pooft! they're gone. Michael had a consistent career over 45 years, and even now, after his 'death' he's still ruling the charts.SeeingClues wrote:It's all about making a quick buck and moving on to the next disposable act.
I can't think of anyone else who has had as much appeal and charisma as MJ. His music is so current, it's like listening to something timeless. No matter when it was released, it is so current to today, to right now, to forever. Timeless is the only word I can think of.
Frankly, all of today's acts could learn a lot from MJ but it wouldn't make a difference because they don't have that internal spark that he has.

Re: Stunning 2001 Billie Jean Performance
I adore this video so much.
I keep saying that Michael is timeless and I really do think this video highlights that. I mean, how many other performances can say at 40 they rock out and entertain a crowd like Michael did then? I'm guessing not a lot!
It reminds me of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PD6uz7BrBvU from 1993 when he sprained his ankle and performed "Remember The Time" in a chair and STILL amazed everyone. I mean it's stunning to watch. You can see how badly he wants to get up and rock out!

Re: Stunning 2001 Billie Jean Performance
i love both of those Thank you.
i remember the 1993 awards show. I felt so bad for Mike he really wanted to dance. He gave a new meaning to dancing in you chair and only he could pull it off.
Sort of eerie or ironic about that NYC concert. I had gone to a Star Trek Convention that weekend and of all people william shatner was a guest at the convention. I have the video on tape somewhere. Anyways he was talking about that same concert because he went to it. I think he made menition of Whitney Houston too. If i find the video i will try to upload it in the next week or two.
what is ironic is i was in the city (that weekend) the day before 9/11/01. also 9/11/01 was the day i was going to go and get a temp job because i was laid of like 2 or 3 months before. That year really sucked big time for me because i lost my job, lost my cat (died, he was 16 yrs old ), my godmother was hospitalized and diagnosed with cancer (she had breast cancer and won that fight but she died a year later). and then what happened that day. I was freaking out because both my mom and sister worked in manhattan but further uptown. It was really awful. I dub it the Year of Hell Part 1. There is a part 2 but that is really depressing too.
My home computer is on the fritz and i need to send it out for repair. I am on my work computer and it sucks in computing power.

Re: Stunning 2001 Billie Jean Performance
this video is awesome. I was enthralled by it (as all of his work does that to me)...the magnatism is beyond words. I literally sat here with my mouth open. He IS and will always be the BEST entertainer in history. He knew how to wrk the crowd, he knew what we wanted and gave it to us at JUSt the right moment....and it drove everyone insane...always. I am amazed by Michael Jackson.
I cannot remember how old I was when I first heard of him, cus Im from Detroit, Home of Motown, so the Jacksons were always on the radio...so I was kinda born into Motown Music by default!! . But I do remember my sister listening to Off the Wall constantly. Then came Thriller. she wore it out a few times and had to buy new ones...Wed dance to Beat It and Thriller and we even learned the dance from the vids and we'd do it SPOT ON whenever they came on MTV. My parents would stand there and watch us and be totally entertained. It was so much fun!! Good times.
MJ has been a part of my life since birth and has completely influenced my choice of music. I even had the Beat It leather Jacket (who didnt!!)...
If he doesnt come back, well, then I have to respect that and will support him all the way to my death.
Love ya TONS MJ!!!! *kisses***
