Brooke Shields
There was a TMZ article about how supposedly Joan Rivers thinks Brooke Shields was exploiting MJ's death for screen time:
http://www.tmz.com/2009/08/04/rivers-brooke-shields-exploited-jackos-death/
In the article it says that Shields admits that the last time she saw him was in 1991. Oh really? Cause she was sitting next to him at the Grammy awards in 1993 when he won the Grammy Legend Award. I know this because I was watching the Dangerous Short Films and there was a clip from it and it clearly said on the screen that it was the 1993 Grammy awards... and there's Brooke Shields sitting next to him.
Just saying.
So either TMZ can't get their facts straight (highly likely) or Brooke Shields can't even keep track of the last time she saw Michael Jackson. While I'm sure Shields was sad about MJ's death, I think really that she distanced herself from MJ after the '93 allegations which is pretty crappy. It's possible Shields is saying the last time she saw him was 1991 so we won't draw the obvious conclusions about her abandoning him at the time of the allegations.
I dunno. Just thought it was mildly interesting.
Also, this is totally off topic but I'm listening to MJ right now, his Come Together cover just was playing and I have to say, it's better than the original. I wonder how Paul McCartney feels about that.

No, you could be right. That does make sense. Come together is one of my favorite songs. Paul is probably pretty jealous. LOL

Re: Brooke Shields
Brooke Shields is a hypocrite that after the 1993 molestation allegations wouldn't touch MJ with a ten-foot pole, but now mourns him in front of millions of viewers.

Funny that you bring that up now, mjfan. I have been ranting about Brooke Shields for weeks. Yes, she was there at the 93 Grammys, but she had already started to distance herself from Michael. She went w/ him "as a favor" - GAG - that evening. With all she must have known about Michael's childhood, w/ all she must have personally witnessed, I find her lack of support for Michael during the first set of child molestation allegations to be particulary sickening. Her presence at the memorial (and her comment about his wearing of the glove - duh vitiligo) was my first 'clue' that something was off about the whole thing. IMO, her being there screamed hoax more than anything else given that her friendship w/ MJ had been essentially over for well over a decade. I felt like it was a desperate attempt to make the whole thing legit if you will.
Come Together - yes! I think that MJ did a much better job of it than the Beatles. That must really stick in Paul McCartney's craw too!

Re: Brooke Shields
To Tell you the truth - I felt Brooke was there for Media Attention ... I didn't feel kindness behind her words for Michael .... seem forced instead of meaning it ...

Which makes me all the more protective of him! He was too sweet and loving and caring for his own good. How dare she show up and 'mourn' him when she hadn't taken a damn interest in him in years?? I would have never not stood by him, none of us here would have betrayed him like that, and yet she goes on national television and boohoo's. Blow me.

Re: Brooke Shields
Ok this will probably get me shunned for life but what the heck I'm going to say it anyway!
It's easy for us to sit here and cast stones at people without knowing the full story. I know there are people in my life who I haven't spoken to in a very long time but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be sad if they died and I wanted to say something nice at their memorial.
I'm not saying Brooke wasn't a hypocrite but we don't know what went on around the time they had their "falling out".

I actually admire you for being able to keep a cool head on this matter.

Ha thanks! It was hard but I am trying to be a nicer person and not be so judgemental towards people and that means trying to control what I say about Jermaine, La Toya and Joe, which may be a bit harder!!!!

Re: Brooke Shields
Thanks Rachel,
I agree with you. Who are we to judge MJ's relationships? We don't know what Brooke Shields was feeling. MJ cared for her and had no alms for her so why should any of us? Keep the Faith!

Oh, Rachel, I'd never shun you! I respect your opinion and am glad you're here to keep us level headed. I was just going w/ my gut instinct and what I specifically remember from that time period. You're a bit younger than me and I recall specifically who stuck by Michael during that time period and who didin't. If she were with him at the Grammy's in February 1993, then she certainly was in a position to comment and/or lend or support when the allegations surfaced just a few weeks later. But, she didn't. She could have said anything during or even after everything was settled. But, she didn't. The truth is that she was already distancing herself from Michael prior to the grammys and this just kind of helped that distancing along. Dunno, I just tend to call a spade a spade.

Oh I totally agree with you! I love that you do with your gut instinct
What I should have said is that in 1993 I was 8 and had no idea who Michael or Brooke were so it wouldn't be fair for me to cast stones on her! Perhaps if I were a little older then I would have a different opinion on her. However, if she did distance herself from him around the time of the child molestation accusations then she isn't a very nice person.

Ok you're not old!!! I'm just VERY young, which I guess isn't a bad thing but at times I think people think "oh she's not old enough to comment on this!".

That's so sweet! Thanks Chick
Oh and Human_Nature, thanks for your lovely comment as well! I know you guys never think that but at work because I am the youngest peope think I need to be wrapped in cotton wool and don't have the brains or the maturity to make my own decisions. I mean I'm 23, not 13 and I can get married, have kids. drive, drink, smoke - basically do whatever I like so I don't need to be mothered thank you!
Ok rant over!!!!
