LaToya remembers hearing of brother’s death
Late singer’s sister recalls seeing his children screaming in her mother's lap
LOS ANGELES
- Ever since Michael Jackson’s death, it’s been brother Randy and
sister La Toya who have taken the lead in keeping the family together. In a new candid interview, La Toya relived with Access Hollywood’s Tony Potts the day she found out Michael had died. “How much do you miss him?” Tony asked.
“Terribly. We lost, the entire world lost just
an incredible person,” La Toya said. “You guys, you can’t even begin to imagine how incredible he was.” Two-and-a-half months have done little to mend the emotional wounds within La Toya’s heart. With her guard down and tears in her eyes, she took Tony back to the day that changed everything – June 25. “Where
were you on the day when you found out your brother was having trouble, at least initially? Did you get a phone call that he had already passed?” Tony asked.
“No,actually I was home and it’s very interesting, because I had just got done watching the news and there was the news on Farrah of course, and I said, ‘Oh my.’ I said, ‘I wonder who’s next?’” La Toya recounted. “Ten minutes later my father calls and says, ‘Michael’s sick, they’re rushing him to the hospital, I need for you to get down there.’ “I kept calling my mother’s assistant that was working with her. I kept saying, ‘Is he OK?’ And he wouldn’t answer me and I heard my mother in the background,” La Toya continued. “She said, ‘Give me the phone.’ And she grabbed the phone and she screamed as loud as she could, ‘He’s dead!’ “And
when she did that, I couldn’t believe it, I couldn’t drive, I got
weak,” La Toya said. “I was asking people on the street to drive me to the hospital, I mean I was only five minutes away, but I got so weak, my knees got weak, I couldn’t believe it. It’s like my heart had stopped.” Eventually driving herself, the terror on La Toya’s face was captured by the media already surrounding UCLA Medical Center. She was the first Jackson sibling to arrive.
“There was a nurse, and I said, ‘Is it true?’ And she said, ‘No it’s not true,’” La Toya revealed. “They escorted me to the room where mother and Michael’s kids were, and they were all in her lap, just screaming to the top of their lungs… Everything just changed, and I opened [the door] and I looked at mother and she [nodded] and I just burst out, I couldn’t control myself.”
Michael’s daughter, Paris, La Toya recounted, was extremely upset. “Paris was saying he’s the best dad in the whole world and she just went on and on and on… and, ‘You can’t leave me this way. Please take me with you,’” La Toya said. “It was so sad… knowing that these little kids, they’ve lost the most precious thing in their life — their father — and he’s no longer there for them.”

why would a nurse say that, when Katherine and the kids allegedly were in the next room crying and screaming?

and it is weird that the nurse would have said that Michael was still alive and why did LaTOya ask the nurse in the first place when she got the confirmation of her brother's 'death' through her MUM who was there b4 her??

Re: LaToya remembers hearing of brother’s death- article dated 9/14/09
I watched an interview on a german TV channel (Pro7)....
it was allegedly her 1st exclusive interview after MJs death...
and there she told the same story with the nurse...
can't remember everything she said...
but the part at arriving the hospital is similar to that pro7 interview
I remember that I was confused why she asked the nurse
...and the nurse said "no, it's not true"....
it's still confusing

Alright, I'm gonna be an a**hole, for a minute -
LaToya was so distraught/terrified she couldn't even drive, right? Just went stumbling in the street, asking for a ride, then - out of desperation - drove herself? Presumably shaking and hysterical, the whole way, right?
Okay...so why does she seem so controlled, in these pictures? And why is she even driving, when she clearly has someone else who could be driving her?
http://www.zimbio.com/pictures/yP6NJzcNiy9/Jackson+Family+Arriving+UCLA+Medical+Center/3LEaIypwjfQ/Latoya+Jackson
And, for that matter...just what does LaToya wear, when she's chillin' at home on the couch, watching the news?
http://www.radaronline.com/photos/image/10062/2009/06/la-toya-and-katherine-jackson-arriving-ucla-medical-center
Was she at home, in full makeup, with this many pounds of jewelry? Or did she put it on, before leaving, to help with her grief?
Cause see...I just can't imagine being in her shoes, getting that news, and NOT tearing out of the house, immediately. It would be a miracle if I even had pants on, when I got there.
I'm just sayin'...

I agree with you itsmagic. Also, I have a question regarding the second set of pics you linked...If Katherine had the children, where are they? There doesn't appear to be any room for 3 kids here and also weren't we told that Dr. Murray had Prince come upstairs to help with Michael? So I guess the kids can be 2 places at once...wow...wish I could manage that one with my schedule these days. If I could be 2 places at one time I could get so much more done!!!

Re: LaToya remembers hearing of brother’s death- article dated 9/14/09
With regards to itsmagic and Toya's wardrobe: yeah, she really is pretty much always 'camera ready' (In the Jackson household, it's kind of expected that at any moment you can have a camera shoved in your face)
and kdkennedy74 - I have been asking myself the same question over and over and over again.
The kids were originally at the house w/Michael in the am and all accounts state as much. The 'ambulance' takes Michael to UCLA and somewhere along the lines, the kids magically transported to the hospital...
there are (to the best of my knowledge) absolutely NO photos of any vehicles leaving the Jackson home following the ambulance departure. There were no paparazzi's waiting to catch who left next??
Common sense says that Michael's children would be with him in his home - and it would stand to reason that if Michael was in the ambulance, the 3 children would NOT be and that SOMEONE would have to take them somewhere, even if only to another sibling's home... yet nothing. No tinted windowed cars with any headlines "following Michael to the hospital"...
and what I find the hardest to believe in that... the paps had been trying desperately to get photos of these kids since the first unmasking..
Yeah, Michael going to the hospital is certainly BIG news.. however.. we've seen that before (and Michael's pulled the follow the ambulance thing before) - but the kids being 'taken to the hospital' after their father had to be taken by ambulance... I just can't believe with the scandal-hungry paps - not one image of how these kids made the 15 minute journey... unless of course - MJ's mansion has a series of tunnels like the Staple's Center has.
Of course there were pap's who caught Toya and Janet going back into the house AFTER Michael had 'passed away' - "contaminating the crime scene" (as it is being speculated)
While I wish the pap's would leave the kids alone - they hadn't (and most likely won't) for some time. The series of events makes me so very skeptical.

If I'm not mistaken, Jermaine said that his mother took the kids to the hospital with her but I distinctly remember seeing footage on Fox News of her entering the hospital alone. I just wish I could find it now to post a link!

Re: LaToya remembers hearing of brother’s death- article dated 9/14/09
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1199092/La-Toya-Jackson-Michael-murdered--I-felt-start.htmlNow she wants to set the record straight. Frequently welling up with
tears while insisting ‘I am trying to be strong’, La Toya says: ‘I was
at home when I received the news that Michael had been rushed to the
hospital.
‘I live about three minutes away from Michael in Beverly Hills. I was talking to a friend about the fact that Farrah Fawcett had just passed away.
Her death came just after Ed McMahon [famous in America as the
sidekick of talk-show host Johnny Carson] died. I said, “There’s going
to be another one because they always go in threes.”
‘About an hour-and-a-half later, my father called me from Las Vegas and said, “Get to the hospital right away. Michael’s been rushed to hospital.”’
La
Toya immediately rang her mother’s personal assistant to be told her
brother was being treated at UCLA Medical Centre in Westwood, a
ten-minute drive from her home. ‘I jumped into my car and kept
calling my mother’s assistant saying, “How is he? How is he?”’ she
recalls. ‘But he wouldn’t tell me.
‘Finally, I heard Mother
in the background asking, “Who is that?” When she learned it was me,
she screamed, “Why don’t you just tell her?” and she grabbed the phone
and just screamed as loud as she could, “He’s dead!”
And from above:
“No,actually I was home and it’s very
interesting, because I had just got done watching the news and there
was the news on Farrah of course, and I said, ‘Oh my.’ I said, ‘I
wonder who’s next?’” La Toya recounted. “Ten minutes later my father
calls and says, ‘Michael’s sick, they’re rushing him to the hospital, I
need for you to get down there.’ “I kept calling my mother’s assistant
that was working with her. I kept saying, ‘Is he OK?’ And he wouldn’t
answer me and I heard my mother in the background,” La Toya continued.
“She said, ‘Give me the phone.’ And she grabbed the phone and she
screamed as loud as she could, ‘He’s dead!’
She should read her own interviews BEFORE she decides to anymore, then maybe just once one of her stories will match up

talking to a friend, watching the news.
10 minutes later dad called, no wait an hour and a half later dad called.
the only thing that matches is what she says about calling her mother's assistant and then her mother grabbing the phone and screaming the news to her. Maybe that comment in her eyes is the most important one to get right. She thinks we are all too stupid to notice her inconsistencies in every other part of her story.

Good point, while LaToya is not seen as the most reliable or trustworthy Jackson, Katherine is. Who better to convince the masses that MJ is gone? That is what we would expect Katherine to do on that day.
