I just thought I'd start a thread. I realize many are not going to watch this show, but for those who do I thought we could post comments here.

Well, it explained why she wasn't at the memorial, or burial. She said she could have been friends with Michael, but chose not to.

K....half into this show and I'm not caring for it much.

My apologies.

I got caught up in some other things and completely forgot that it was on today. How underwhelming and unimpressive was the portion of the show that you saw?

Decided not to watch it because as much as I enjoy watching that interview it seems to me Oprah sort of stabbed him in the back with her silence through out the years and not only that she is hailed for her importance and charity giving-ppl are under the impression she gives more money than any other celebrity-and un be knownst to ppl actualy MJ gave more than any celebrity. So in a way I just really dont care for her-not because of MJ-just in general.

So lile I am guessing NOBODY on the forum watched this?

I had planned on watching the show..but boycotted it when Oprah made her dumbass comment about MJs "death" on accesshollywood last week. That blew my whole image of Oprah...what respect I did have for her is totally GONE!

For real? What did she say?-I dont like her and never have but I was curios as to what she would say-considering the fact she has not shown any support for him at all?

Same here. She blew me with her negative words and I totally changed my thought of her. Why speak pf that now. So baiscally she said that she thought MJ was guilty. Even tho she does NOT KNOW THE FACTS. Sad indeed because she should know how the media lies and twists things.

It was in poor taste for her to have said some of the things she did last week.

For anyone who wants to hear her FIRST official comment on his death. You may disagree but I found she was cold and insensitive

I watched it and saw it in detail. The interview was from Jan 92/Feb 93. This was before all of the allegations.

Oprah was reflecting on her interview with MJ from her Harpo Studios.
She said she didn't have any questions lined up like she normally did. She and MJ hadn't gone over anything prior to the live interview. She was nervous and her knees were shaking. When MJ appeared on scene she asked him if he was nervous and he said no. She said that put her at ease.

Interview

Oprah asked MJ if he had any regrets about growing up in the industry because he didn't have a childhood.

MJ said no he loved the industry but it didn't give him any room to have a childhood because he was always in the studio, photo sessions, recording sessions.

Oprah asked him about his skin color and how most people in the black community thought he was trying to change his color. (side note) She said when she got up close she could see he had no pigmentation in his skin and could see his veins and that he was almost transparent.

MJ became a little perplexed and said he had the vitiligo condition. He said it came about sometime after Thriller was released. He said he used creams and makeup to cover the discoloration and he was not trying to change his skin color and be something he wasn't. He said people laid in the sun to try and get dark and no one says anything about them so why does anyone care about him.

Oprah asked him about his nose and how many surgeries he had.

MJ replied by saying if everyone in Hollywood went on vacation because they had plastic surgery there would be no one in town. He said he couldn't understand why the focus was on him so much. He said he had nose surgery and that was all.

Oprah asked him if he'd like to get married one day.

MJ said yes because that was the optimal dream to have a wife and kids.

At one point in the interview MJ was telling Oprah how Joseph was mean to him when he was small and becoming an adolescent. Oprah was surprised he went all the way there. Oprah told asked him if that was the reason he kept changing his face. MJ told her no it was because he was a perfectionist. Oprah asked him if he ever looked in the mirror. MJ told her no. (side note) Oprah said she believed he wasn't being honest. MJ started apologizing to Joseph for saying that he was abusive to him coming up. Oprah said she could see MJ was hurt at the same time he had a fear of upsetting Joseph. She said if you rewound the tape you could see it in his eyes.

Oprah asked him if he had ever been in love.

MJ said yes with a girl( he didn't name her) and Brooke Shields.

Oprah asked him if he had ever had sex.

MJ smiled and covered his face and said he was embarrassed that she would ask that question. Keep in mind Oprah didn't have any questions lined up to ask MJ so she was asking questions randomly.

MJ said he was a gentlemen and he would never reveal that information.

Oprah wanted to continue on this conversation because she was curious. MJ told her to read his book Moonwalker. Oprah said that always pissed her off during an interview when told to get the book. She didn't like that at all.

They went to MJ's theatre and MJ showed Oprah the famous moonwalk. Oprah said she was glad she saw it live.

Oh yeah! Elizabeth Taylor showed up during the interview too. MJ gave her his chair. Liz said there was nothing weird about MJ and that he was a great person and wonderful friend.

Oprah asked MJ if he loved Liz and had he ever proposed.

Liz replied by saying, "yeaaaaaah!" he proposed to me but I never proposed to him.

MJ stood there in silence and didn't say a word.

The interview ended with Oprah reflecting on the fact that after the interview ended she was never in MJ's life. She never reached out to him to become his friend. She said she regreted that and had she known that day she would have been there for MJ during his life.

IMO, it wasn't a bad interview. Oprah wasn't rude or anything and during that time those were the questions that public wanted answered. Remember! that was when he started to change. MJ was so cute. Remember the video "Remember the Time"?
That was how he looked. He is so adorable. At that time he was a bachelor living large on Neverland. What a beautiful person! Keep the Faith!

Oh yes I have the interview in it original form-it is a great interview! especially at that time -before the allegations and first major interview he had and the first time anyone saw Neverland-I just wondered what she said today that may have been differant

And yes I think he was so adorable in that interview and so respectful-to oprah and to his father and to Liz Taylor. He presented himself as a man of great character (remember "I'm a gentleman")

Wow but she says "none of now will ever know what the truth was"-funny because with all her power she could have found had she wanted. All she had to do was have some interviews with the people no one else will interview either.
