Footage from the singer’s rehearsals for his string of gigs at London’s O2 is being used for a documentary, set for release in time for Oscar selection next year.

The Ј40million Sony-funded film will include never-before-seen rehearsal footage, three new music videos and a digitally enhanced version of Thriller.

“This is going to be one of the biggest films of all time,” said a source.

“With Sony behind it, it will be very slick… And the Academy loves honouring past icons in the business.”
