Conrad Murray's girlfriend subpoenaed to grand jury

September 22, 2009, (Splash News) - Los Angeles prosecutors will use the power of a grand jury to get the girlfriend of Conrad Murray to testify in the investigation of Michael Jackson's sudden death of a drug overdose in June.

The woman, Nicole Alvarez, 27, was reportedly not co-operating with authorities in the multi-agency probe that has targeted Jackson's personal physician Conrad Murray.

The grand jury will be empaneled this week, sources close to the case said. It will be instructed to take testimony only – not to determine at this time whether a charge should be brought against Murray – the sources said.

The death has been officially labeled a homicide and Murray, who was with Jackson at the time of his death and who has admitted giving him doses of sedatives and an anesthetic – propofol – in the hours before he died, has been investigated for manslaughter.

Police conducted a search of Alvarez's apartment, where she lives with an infant son by Murray. Alvarez's attorney said his client was issued with a subpoena several days ago to appear before the grand jury on Wednesday morning.

"We are definitely going to co-operate, but as to whether that happens [Wednesday], that remains to be seen. It is short notice," said lawyer Joseph Low IV.

"The only thing she asked was that she be notified when they wanted to talk to her and that she have the ability to have a lawyer there because she doesn't know what to expect."

Was she in the room when CM shot MJ up w/ Propofol? Did she conspire to help CM get the Propofol? How can anything she says have any bearing whatsoever when we already have a CONFESSION?!!!

Giraf, i agree with you completely! When I read that line, I was thinkin the same thing. It just seems so phony and unnecessary to bring a grand jury in just to take testimony from someone who wasn't even around when Michael "died".

.... ) refused to cooperate and talk to the cops, so in order for her to talk to them, they subpoena her to a grand jury to get her testimony?! Gee, whatever happened to showing up at someone's address and take them in for questioning?

Because this way it looks more dramatic.
It makes it look like the LAPD and the DA are taking the investigation seriously.
