MJ glove

Can anyone tell me if MJ white secuence glove came before or after he burned his head on that Pepsi commercial?

I always heard that the glove became popular after the burning but, when looking at this video, I noticed something, stop it at 5:59.
27th January 1984 Michael burned his head on that Pepsi commercial.
