RE: PORTAL MAP/locate yourself (NOT)

I checked out my own location on the portal map. The streets are all named something different (for example: "Independence"!), and the surrounding buildings are not correct.

What do you all get when you pinpoint your location on the portal map? I zoomed all the way in just to see.... and went "What? None of this is correct..." !!

i just zoomed in and i noticed that the street they list is the OLD name of my street. probably long before the current street name existed.

What the heck are you guys doing? LOL

apparently if you click on portal near the left side of your screen (right under the site logo), and then click to see everyone online on the right side of the screen under "who's online", a map will show up where you can zoom into your location, or another user's location. you can look at the city and street names. the street names are either inaccurate or not up to date.

Don't be fooled! The street names ARE different. And so is the surrounding area. !!

Exactly! Could be a legal thing, but just another in a long line of strangeness.....

I wouldn't trust the portal too much guys. It can get pretty accurate as to where you are but not 100% spot on. I just tried it and said my street was about 20 miles from where I live. I think as someone above pointed out, it may for security reasons that it can't give your exact location out

Wow, it gives even the streets? it can trace only the area where i am now, but not the street!

I for one am happy it doesn't pinpoint my exact location, lot's of crazys out there
