ABBA approached to fill Jacko's 50-show O2 run
July 2nd, 2009 LONDON - Pop legends ABBA have apparently been approached to fill in for the 50-show run previously planned for Michael Jackson at London's O2 arena. AEG Live, the promoters for the King of Pop's slated comeback tour, are said to be trying hard to woo the renowned band out of retirement.

ABBA said they hadn't even been approached and that they would never do it anyway.
There is a lot of media fishing going on with the O2, now apparently they want to line up Robbie Williams and Whitney Houston to fill the gap left over.

How they want to do that while in the middle of supposed takeover talks from Trinity College, Cambridge who want to buy the O2 - I have no idea.

I thought about that to giveintome. MJ see all of us not believing the media and our prize is free tix to his concerts...Gawd..I would die. Just die. Ive never seen him live and that would be my dream before I bite it. That man has influeneced alot of who I am today. For real. There is no one on earth like him. I think Souza was the one who started a thread saying she thought of Mike as an avatar? Was that her?
Well I SO know what she means. He's not God, cus there is only one God, but he is on the same level sorta...does that make sense? MJ is like a religious experience for me at least. He has an energy you can feel all around the planet. You wanna take it in and you feel good doing it. His vibe is everywhere and its a special feeling. I wuv him!! Very Happy

I know exactly what you mean. That was always one of my biggest dreams growing up - to be able to see Michael in concert and I have never been able to so this would be the biggest dream come true.
I know what you mean, there is only one God, but Michael is something special, he's got this aura about him, this magnetism that I've never seen anyone else have. It surrounds you and it makes you feel complete. I can't explain it properly but when I first heard on 25 June it felt like a hole had been torn into me, proper physical pain, it felt like a huge part of my heart had been ripped out.
I was broken for ages until I started thinking about things clearly and seeing the inconsistencies, things which didn't add up or make sense at all. I found this website and that got the ball rolling and here we are.

Yes I feel the same as you too my friend and I'm not an MJ's fan. There are good positive vibes that Michael generates. He's like what they said.. an Earth Angel. I feel a sense of peace listening to his songs and vocals. He has a serene look around him. I thought I was going crazy but tht was how my family and friends at work felt too.

An Earth Angel, I couldn't have put it better, that is exactly what he is, he just shines with this inner light that is so blindingly beautiful, yet he's not arrogant or bigheaded, he's just Michael.
It's like you absorb him in and he surrounds you and you couldn't stop even if you wanted to.

I have this feeling of him being an avatar, since I had saw him on Brazil. during the concert and also recording They Dont Care About US...His energy vibes different, not as he is a super human, but someone more enlighted.He makes us feel good, when he was on Rio and Salvador everyone said that.And I had the privilege to be there too, and even stand my hand and touch his shoulder, during a rehearsel of a scene on Rio.

I won't belittle ABBA because they've produced some great music too, not like Michael but they have done some brill classics (Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen etc.)
But I will agree that they wouldn't sell out stadiums like Michael does, Michael is eternal, I can't explain it any other way but he has always managed to sell out stadiums throughout his career no matter how many years there are between tours and shows.
He is the one artist who can make tickets fly out of the box office without having to lift a finger.

Has anyone else noticed how completely bizarre this whole situation seems to be?
I can't believe how much stuff is being thrown out there at the moment (strange photos, inside stories, gossip etc) Everyday there is something new for us to take on board and talk about and so much of it is really quite weird.
Added to all this, why ask Abba to perform Michael' songs...seems very very strange to me.

Does anyone understand why AEG are only trying to get cover acts [ABBA, Whitney, Robbie etc] for 23 of the O2 dates? Is there some significance there?

Does anyone know the exact 50 dates for the THIS IS IT shows? I'm curious as to why only 23 dates need to be filled in by others.
This leads me to 3 options: 1). that 27 dates have already gone by - which is not true or 2). Michael will come back for the last few dates or 3). AEG only had 31 dates insured by Lloyds of London so they are filling up those dates - and the rest will be left blank

hehe and as I got through the thread, I see someone else came out and said it was them that said it, lol. To me, the fact that so many people have independently come up with this avatar/angel idea, is just a sign that there really is something to that idea.

It's an important idea for me because I think most people need an avatar/example/leader/whatever and for "me" while I believe in a higher power, I don't follow any particular religion and I didn't have that person/being/whatever that I connected with.

And I definitely feel like I've got that now. Someone that truly inspires me both creatively and spiritually. Which is good for me. I'm still in obsession mode here so I'm not super productive in many areas still, but as this fades to a normal level of whatever, then I expect I'll be able to use this inspiration that I've gained more fully and apply it.

I've been thinking when I saw this post. Rather weird though but of what I'm uncertain and unable to say.. When MJ's death was aired over the air at my place we'd MJ's songs throughout the first day. The next day.. we still get MJ's songs on air but ABBA's was slot in between breaks with Michael's songs.. Aww.. maybe it's just a coincidence.
