This is it CD credits....
I was board at lunch today... I started looking at the credits on the This is It CD.....
On the first song... Michael J. Jackson is credited for the writing while Michael Jackson is credited for the performance..... Why would they use his initial for the writing of the song and not the performance???
It may be nothing but it seems a bit strange.

Re: This is it CD credits....
I noticed the exact same thing. In fact, for every song except Jam, the writing is credited to Michael J. Jackson, while the singing/background vocals are credited to Michael Jackson. Not sure what to make of that. Not to mention it saying, "produced by Michael Jackson and John McClain" on the back cover. Wasn't this produced after his 'death'?

Re: This is it CD credits....
You know why he's probably listed..
Because his songs from previous albums that were put on it were produced by him - so technically he'd receive credit would he not?

Re: This is it CD credits....
I noticed this in the credits of the movie and kept telling it in my posts but no one seemed to notice...HELLO we never heard that a companion album was in the making for TII...really why would it? There is the essential album out there with ALL those songs on it...except for "This is IT",which was hurried into the process from the archives. So -while individual songs give him cred for production in differant years-why would the whole album?

Re: This is it CD credits....
Because most of it was his doing?
I really don't know.. that just makes sense to me, as far as why he would be listed as a producer.

Re: This is it CD credits....
The wording is strange. He is credited on every song inside the CD booklet and it also says MIJAC Publishing on the back cover....as it should. I just think it's weird that it would say, 'produced by Michael Jackson and John McClain'. MJ didn't produce this album/CD...he had 'died' by the time production of it began. Also, right under where it says that, it says "Always great to sing with my brother.' Even though 'brother' is in the singular (which is stange in itself)...the obvious assumption is that those are MJ's words. So, it does raise the question as to when this was produced.

Re: This is it CD credits....
Well I remember Kenny Ortega saying in the Oprah interview that he was working on the album during the time he was rehearsing for the tour, but that's all I know about it.

Re: This is it CD credits....
If Kenny said that "he was working on the album", besides all the other aforementioned strange things, why would MJ "work on the album"?
It's not like the album is a recording of the songs as they were performed during rehearsals -- not live material. These are just the original songs placed on a new cd with the TII song added because it was "found" after the "death". So what exactly was there to "work" on with regard to the cd? more strangeness...

Re: This is it CD credits....
@city,gal-EXACTLY! the only reason they did this was upposedly because of the movie which supposedly was only coming out for fans because he died.

Re: This is it CD credits....
What does it mean by "Always great to sing with my brother." on the back of the album? Who is stating that? Michael Jackson, or his brothers, Kenny Ortega, who? I can't seem to figure it out!

I wonder if this is some other slip-up from Kenny. Why would he even say that? It's not like even if the concerts happened that there was new material coming out from MJ.
I had a thought, on the cd (I don't have it) who is credited with the cover art? I'm wondering if someone calls SONY to ask about the "brother" thing if or what kind of answer one would get? Also, how did Mj produce if he's dead.
If we can figure out who to contact maybe I can call.

Re: This is it CD credits....
Hi Guys
I've been following your site for awhile now but have never contributed to this particular forum.
However the album has realllly got me stumped.
Nice detective work with the make.believe thing
But seriously what is up with the "always great to sing with my brother"
Someone mentioned contacting Sony, writing to them or something. Was wondering if anyone could possibly do that? I'm not from the States and wouldn't have a clue where to start in order to contact someone at Sony.
I mean if this is a typographical error, it's a major error right for no one to have picked up on. How many eyes would have landed on the album before it went to print.
Also if if was from the brothers to MJ, firstly there are no Jackon five songs on here besides the back up vocals they did for this is it and also shake your body but that is sung by MJ. Secondly if it was from the brothers then it should read Always great to sing with OUR brother.
And the whole Michael J Jackson and Michael Jackson thing, what is up with that.
Was wondering if anyone could try and contact Sony to see if they can give us some idea as to what the???

I'm willing to try but we need to find a contact person because SONY is such a large company. Does the CD sleeve give any credit to who did the cover art? I'm in NY and could try giving them a call but I need a starting point. I don't want to call the company and go through why I'm calling 100 times. I don't have the CD so I cannot go through any of the album credits, need help there.
