Viacom Inc. announced Tuesday that MTV networks, a division of Viacom, obtained the exclusive TV rights to Michael Jackson's This is It.

The deal includes all domestic channels under the MTV Networks umbrella, including MTV, VH1, VH1 Classic and Palladia and rounds out the music networks' commitment to celebrating the life and legacy of Michael Jackson. The arrangement also extends to Viacom's BET Networks, including its newest channel, Centric. Channels and premiere dates will be announced at a later time.</BLOCKQUOTE>
The film will become available to the network in 2011 with exclusive US TV rights for six years. To date, Michael Jackson's This is It has made more than 200 million worldwide.

Huh? Does this mean that Sony/Columbia Pictures sold TII to MTV? Or is it more of a lease? How might this affect the release date of the dvd? I pre-ordered mine from Amazon.
