http://www.hollyscoop.com/michael-jackson/michael-jacksons-son-thinks-michael-is-on-vacation_20967.aspx

I know this is probably old news but when I first saw this I was like, "Awee poor Blanket. He doesn't understand." But now i'm like, wait a minute. I think Blanket probably just slipped up. You never tell a kid whose parent just died that they're simply on VACATION. Cause the kid would forever be waiting for the parent to come back. But someone probably told Blanket his Dad is on vacation cause if this is a hoax, that's basically what it is! And Blanket being the adorable little kid that he is, brought it up, and Mark Lester just so happened to be around when he said it. And OF COURSE Mark Lester ran to the media to report the story!!

...Blanket at the memorial broke my heart...he has Michael written all over him. & he looks so innocent.

idk, that article makes me sad. but wth, why would Mark sell that story to the press? hoax or not, it is a family issue so he needs to hop offfffffff.

IF HE SAW HIS FATHER IN A CASKET AS MANY TIMES THAT I'VE HEARD.
THERE IS NO WAY A 7 YEARS OLD WOULD THINK THAT.

I HAVE A 4 YEAR OLD COUSIN WHO UNDERSTANDS ''DEATH''
HE'S A MJ FAN AND IT BROKE MY HEART TO SEE HIM CRY WHEN HIS FATHER TOLD HIM THAT MJ WOUDN'T BE SINGING ANYMORE.

HE WAS LIKE

Does anyone know for sure if Blanket did see his father's body in the casket?

I hoping he didn't see him in the coffin ... that will scar a child for life ... I know .... not easy ... but I think he did know that his daddy is on vacation ... not metaphorically ... but for real though ...

I agree with you- I don't think a 7 year old should view a parent like that either. I was just curious if the media had been reporting it as fact because I don't remember hearing anything about it.

I agree with you. Even not seeing his father dead, a 7-years old boy understands what death is. My nephew is 8 now, but I remember that around 5 or 6 he knew that someone dead was not on vacation. What was puzzling him at this stage was that the body was in grave while we were telling him the person was in heaven, in the sky. That was hard for him to figure this out.

But look, the answer Paris gave is unbelievable too, for a girl her age !

One reacts like a baby he is not, and the second like an old lady she is not either.

I agree with you... My little brother was 6 when our father died.. he never saw his father in the casket but never asked- where is he or when he is coming back..

Kids know these things way before the age of 7. Of course, we don't know what kinda upbringing he had and what his dad told him about the subject but IMO the only way he thinks he's on vacation is if Michael raised him telling him we all live forever and never mention the word death or anything similar.
Oh, there as a story recently about a bird they had and died and they had to bury it, so the phrase i said before is invalid... BLANKET Slips Up? lol Icon_rolleyes

Another think bugs me, with these articles about his kids ( besides the obvious of putting their feelings and lives on display like that), is always at least one mention of "the most famous man of earth" or anything similar to that. Come one, we're talking about 3 kids that lost their daddy ( or so they say)...him as an entertainer has no place in that conversation.

Oh I'm a believer, but this article made me cry. However after reading it and checking your comments, what came to my mind is that it's hard to explain "death" to a 7 year old kid, but it must be even harder to explain "a hoax".

I think it would be a cruelty if they said "your daddy is on vacation", knowing his father is dead, because the boy would spend his days waiting for his father to come back. I don't believe they'd say something like this. It makes more sense if they told him: "your father is on vacation", because it was the easiest way to explain him the real situation, that is, the hoax. I hope so.
