The same casket or different? Empty The same casket or different?

Post by StenniZ Fri Sep 04, 2009 6:11 am

On both this forum and the original MJHD the appearance of the casket has been discussed (shortly). Some say it's the same casket and that it looks different because of the angle in which it was photographed and the different lighting. I'm not sure, but at first glance to me they look different. In my opinion the handles (ornaments) look different. The casket at the memorial looks more detailed to me. I tried to zoom both images, but unfortunately the quality of both is too low to be sure. Anyways...to me it looks as if the "Memorial-casket has M-shaped handles (with more detail) and the one at the funeral-service has (sorta) N-shaped (simpler/less detailed) handles. I'm not saying I'm 100% sure about this, but please take a look. Perhaps someone can find the same pics with better quality (higher pixel resolution) so we can compare them better.

Whether or not they are the same/different, I don't yet know, what could be the reason for that, or what it may imply, but still, I thought I'ld share it with you guys. Just don't want to miss/overlook anything. Smile

The same casket or different? Caskethandles

By the way...it's awefully quiet here on the forum. I sure hope y'all haven't lost faith all of a sudden?

No faith lost here Smile I can see what you're saying about the 'M' and 'N' shapes. The one from the memorial is so much more shiny as well. Maybe it just needs a good polish after all this time!

I think they are two different caskets....

Probably because the one at the memorial was empty as we all now...

Thanks for your replies. I'm trying to come up with a reason for 'them' to use different caskets. Can't think of any so far. Anyone else? Smile

okay i think we shouldnt jump to conclusions because we cant really compare this two- we need pictures from the same ankle to be able to do so...

and we should consider light, maybe it has also a lot to do with the color of flowers- and reflections....i cant tell for sure

Regardles of the different angles from which the pics were taken, you can clearly see, that the Memorial-casket has more detail (on the handles) than the Funeral-casket.

hmm...i don't mean to put a damper on anything, but to me they look the same, and it's the angle and the shininess of the memorial one that makes them look different. to me the memorial one looks as tho the handles are reflecting against the sides of the casket, making the handle shape appear different. but i could be wrong, i'm just speaking my opinion Smile

The casket from the memorial has more detail on the side, and not just on the handles. Also.. uhm... how do I say this so everyone wil understand me...
The 'space' in the middle (where the handles are attached) of the two caskets are different. The one from the memorial is lighter and wider then the one at the burial.
The casket from the burial looks more square then the one from the memorial...that one has round endings.

That's what I see too. Right on the sides of the middle handle, you can clearly see additional detail/ornaments which are not present on the Funeral-casket. This can't be just because of lighting, as that would just put certain shadows and details in a different angle. A different angel does not add any detail/ornaments....IMO. Wink

Not the same casket.
the same color but not the same handles you are right.

the color seems to change due to the light.

Hello everyone. To me it does look like a diffrent casket. The one at the memorial had a really nice shine to it, but the one at the burial was really dusty and also the casket at the memorial looked really bulky, but the casket at the burial looked like an avergae size casket to me. That is just what I think.

Different !
At first glance they look different, but Photoshop gave me the evidence they are different. I made both casket the same length and size, corrected the perspective and superposed the pictures. Geometry doesn't lie : the handles don't match.
Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to post the picture. I tried but it didn't work.
They are different, but that doesn't help, because we don't know who took the cemetery picture. Maybe the photographer took a picture of employers delivering caskets and told that was MJ's one because it was a shiny one.
Surely, many other people in that cemetery can afford that kind of casket.

I think the difference in colors is because the Memorial was well lit, indoors, with tons of lights and flashes. The burial was outdoors and it was very dark. But..the handles do appear different to me. This is not the first time I hear this. People in my own family pointed this out even before I saw it, and they are not hoax believers. I wish we had better pictures of both though. I wonder what this is all about. Thanks StenniZ for bring this up !

At first, I though the caskets were definitely different--the handles didn't seem to match. But after looking at lots of different photos, it seems to me that the handles that appear to be M-shaped only look that way because of shadows that were cast when the photo was taken. Check these links of other photos to see what I mean.

Click on this photo from the Memorial when it opens and it will zoom in to full size.

http://mjjgallery.free.fr/2009/memorial/wonder/001.jpg

Here's one from backstage at Memorial that's more close up:

http://concreteloop.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/88888768.jpg

This one from the Funeral is smaller.

http://yazmar.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/58233590sweetgapeach8094200975050am.jpg

The lighting and shadows, and the angle of the shots, definitely affect how the casket looks, including the handles.

Hello Christiana
When I told the handles don't match, I didn't mean they don't look the same, but that they are not at the same place, and not at the same distance one from another.
I managed to post the picture. Red is the memorial casket, and blue the other one.

They are definetely different caskets but no one is asking why? There must be a reason. If you were going to hoax your death why would you need to use two caskets? Any ideas guys?
