Re: Where Were You When You Heard The News?
I came to my PC to check my emails and when I clicked on yahoo I saw the horrible news, I couldn't believe it, I started crying and my sister came and asked me what happened but I kept on crying for a long time without saying anything. I had many mixed feelings... sadness, loneliness, anger, fear, confusion, regret, despair, frustration... After a while I thought 'No, this must be a joke, it can't be true!', you know... when you love someone so much you never want to think that one day they actually might die... I say this to my parents and my sister many times 'I can't live in a world without you', I really felt that when I saw the news... Michael is like a member of my family or my best friend, even though I don't know him personally. I stayed up all night because I couldn't sleep and I watched so many videos related to Michael and cried for many many hours...
After like 3 days I felt that something is wrong so I searched on the internet to see if ppl noticed that something weird is going on. The rest is history.

Re: Where Were You When You Heard The News?
I was at home when I saw it. For a minute it they were saying that he was in cardic arrest but then it switched to he had died. I already had a broken heart from my divorce weeks earlier but that just crushed the pieces that were left. I was in shock. I never expected him to die. I always thought he would be here till the end of time. In all of this I couldn't cry but eventually I came to that believe he wasn't dead (Thanks to MJHD). Now since that happened I can truly say I love him more than ever before.

I was at home and feel hypnotized lookin' at CNN. I remember telling my husband "THIS IS A BIG FAT LIE"
And I called my best friend, who reads the tarot and she said "He is NOT dead"...
That is exactly what happened....
I remember and I feel a hole on my heart....I cried and cried and cried....for about 4 days...

Re: Where Were You When You Heard The News?
I live in the UK and we have an 8 hour time difference to LA. Me, my Mum and my sister were in bed and it was 2am and I heard that my Mum got a text message through on her phone. I remember thinking it had to be bad news because it was so early in the morning.
My Mum came into my bedroom and said "Rachel, come downstairs with me now". I was so sleepy and scared and knew it had to be serious. We put Sky News on and it flashed up with a breaking news banner saying "Michael Jackson has died". It didn't register at first and I just sat there in a state of shock. After about 5 minutes I turned to my Mum and just started to cry. I thought my tears would never stop. I ran upstairs and woke my sister up who also came downstairs and we watched the news coverage until 6am. I also checked Facebook on my phone and saw that nearly all of my friends had "RIP Michael" as their status and that's when it hit me.
I didn't even start to think this was a hoax until Jermaine's press conference and the memorial and things didn't add up. I googled "Michael Jackson's death" and MJHD came up and I never looked back.
I will always always always remember that night.

Re: Where Were You When You Heard The News?
I was just hanging out in my room after work with my mom...I don't even remember what we were talking about. My brother (who had just recently rediscovered mJ and had been perfecting dance moves) called and said he had heard it on the radio and to turn on tv and see if it was true. We did and saw the report. That was when I heard the news but I don't think it really hit me and sank into my conciousness until the Memorial...no I know it did'nt. The reason I still havent gotten over it is -well because nothing about it makes sense. It is surreal-it is unjust and unclear. Just as the past 15 years of his life.

Re: Where Were You When You Heard The News?
I was at a basketball game with my son. My sister in law called me and asked me if I knew who had died. I told her yeah, Farrah Fawcett. She was like, NO! girl...Michael Jackson died! I couldnt believe it. I was shocked for the rest of the game and started thinking of my son's words six months before the "death". He had seen the "Enquirer" magazine and told me about the news in it. I didn't pay much attention to the article, since I know the Enquirer is a sensationalist mag.
My 11 year old son is an MJ fan, and he was also shocked and told me he thought it was a joke or something. This is the effect MJ has in our lives. You know, it's like someone said earlier... immune to death. I know he's human, but for me its like he was supposed to be like Zeus...immortal, and he certainly is. A thousand years from now, everyone will know who is Michael Jackson

Re: Where Were You When You Heard The News?
I was just about to walk into school at about 6 am in the morning, rehearsing my points for a debate competition I was busy spazzing out about. Then, my teammate came up to me (she was just about to enter school as well), with her eyes wide and all bugged out (she's usually really chill), and said "D, MJ died!" in a breathless voice. I stopped and looked at her, unable to comprehend what she had said. "What?!" I exclaimed, forgetting all about spazzing out about anything else. Everything else seemed trivial at that point.
"MJ! Michael Jackson, he died! Cardiac arrest. It's on the radio!" she went on hurriedly. I remember clamping a hand over my mouth and just uttered "Oh, no, no, no... Are you serious?" while shaking my head. "Yeah, it's all over the news!" she answered as we walked into school. Apparently we were the first amongst my circle of friends to know because everyone else had gotten to school earlier, therefore not having heard the news yet.
The news spread like wildfire, and a few people became teary-eyed and just paced around shaking their heads. I remember going around to random people, telling them to spread the word as a few of my friends used their phones' internet and radio to look for the reports. It was mildly hectic and my discipline teacher came up to us and asked what all the hullaballoo was all about and we told him the news and I remember his face fell as he muttered something in disbelief. He asked us what we knew, which was at the time very limited.
A few of us refused to believe it. Collectively we tried to tell ourselves it was just a false alarm. "He's just in a coma. He's gonna wake up," one of my other friends repeated again and again (she's on the debate team too, though, like me, had forgotten all about the competition at that very instant), trying to reassure herself more than anyone else. Another teammate of mine just remained solemn. "He's dead," he mumbled, looking a little angry. I remember just telling him, "Shut up, man!"
I texted my mom and she checked the internet and my dad (who was in LA at the time) texted us, telling us that the news was spreading like wildfire there, my sister and all..... It was crazy!
All in all, it was an emotional day. Very emotional. Period.

He is truly a special human being and I am so happy that I got the chance to experience his music, experience his dance, experience the beautiful person he is. I simply love Michael Jackson and I know all of you do too, because you wouldn't be devoting your time to this forum if you didn't. Thank you to everyone for posting. Let's keep the faith that Michael will come back to us soon. Peace.
*Nods head* I totally agree. I love being around other people who love him as much as I do
